Comcast decided that internet strength in my area was "below optimal." So, with the press of a few buttons, my whole neighborhood has no internet. The fuck? I called them up and they said it won't be fixed until the 13th. The fuck? I told the man on the phone, "No, that will not do." He replied, "What about the 14th?" Faggot.

What a bunch of twats. My internet was just fine, and once again, they try to do something right and they end up breaking way too many things outside of what needed to be tinkered with.

My experiences with Comcast customer service show that you must go through at least 3-4 service reps before you reach one that perfectly understands your problem and knows exactly how to fit it first try, and will even reboot your modem for you. (most support reps don't know they can do that and ask you to do it instead)

All the personnel you talk to before that will make you do one or more of the following: repeatedly reload the Comcast homepage while they fuck your account settings(and making things worse), reboot your PC at least once, have you uninstall your network drivers when not only your PC has no connection but neither does your second PC or xbox, and each of them will have you reboot the modem at least twice.

I'm going to have to give my ISP, Optimum Online, a call because I'm now getting 256kbps to 5mbps all day except for around 3am, which I then get 20mbps. My IP address location is also showing up in New York City when it used to be Trenton. IP address did not change. My upload stays constant at 2mbps at any time of day, and my download is suppose to be 15mbps.

Around June I was contracted with under the table payments to reverse engineer anything my "boss" asked me to on the security system for a certain device. I've received about 3 payments totaling up to $7000 in the month of June. I've since taken a break and recently started up again last weekend. I've been working for a week straight, some nights not getting to sleep until 6AM, and running on only 4-5 hours of sleep. I've reverse engineered almost the entire security system for this device which so far is over 2500 lines and required me to basically recreate the underlying win32 driver for this device. I have a bit more work to do, and I'm hoping this will be done by sunday. I have physically worked myself to the point were I can barally stand to reverse engineer any more code, and I still have a bit to finish up. As soon as my "boss" gets back from vacation I'm gunna tell him he can either pay me for what I have done, or I will just go find someone else who will. I swear to god if the payment for this job is not enough to cover the $6k-ish I need to finishing paying off my car and insurance I'm gunna flip the fuck out. I have exactly 9 days before college starts and all I wanna do is relaxe and not worry about shit.

I swear, every time I try to get back to learning C#, my mind just fucking goes blank and I can't take anything in.

You can do it man, if you can do ASM you can do C#. Where are you trying to learn it?

I did microcontroller ASM in which the language is heavily limited by the length of the OPcode.
Most of the chips I have only support 35 or so instructions.
And ASM is also very simple language while C# is a huge language.

As for C#, I've been trying to wrap my head around XML readers and shit as one of the file types I intend to work with is based on XML structure.

Xml can be tricky in C#, there are a lot of xml classes which may appear to do the same thing but are actually used for different purposes. I would recommend using the XmlDocument class, it's a lot easier than using a XmlReader/TextReader.

Ya the file in question doesn't use traditional XML where the data in between <tags> </tags> but placed inside the tags like how Entity plugins are structured.

I ordered some circuit board making resources last week only to just now find out I entered the wrong zip code.
I hope UPS has the brains to figure out the zip code is off by one number.

Edit: Wup, never mind. I had them email me the invoice. Apparently they fucking hand wrote the confirmation email which resulted in the typo.

Don't you just love it when you try to fall asleep earlier than you normally would, and end up staying awake for about an hour, sleeping for a half hour, and than repeating until you realize that it's 8 AM? I know I do. :¬_¬:

Same problem with me, only I don't fall asleep until 8am. The best thing I can do is sleep every other day, but even then I can't fall asleep at night.

OMG WTF an earthquake! One just happened as I was typing this, but I was told to evacuate the building so here I am about an hour later.

Edit: hmm, post # 1717?

What Grim said, but take it a step further and use the System.Xml.Linq classes for reading and writing Xml.

He're a 5 Minute Overview which is what I would probably start out at to see some examples for reading.

They use the Linq(Language Integrated Query) syntax for reading:

Code: Select all

var predictedResourceMatches =
from element in rootNode.Elements("struct")
where element.Attribute("name").Equals("Predicted Resources")
select element;
That example would return an IEnumerable<XElement> with element(s) that have a name of Predicted Resources if there are any( <struct name="Predicted Resources" .... /> )

If the Linq syntax is a lot to wrap your head around you might prefer the Extension Method syntax. Linq is really just a lot of compiler automagic on top of extension methods(which are also just compiler automagic). The syntax for the same example above would look like this with the extension method syntax:

Code: Select all

var predictedResourcesMathes = rootNode.Elements("struct").Where( element => element.Attribute("name").Equals("Predicted Resources") );
That element => element....() stuff is a Lambda Expression(which the compiler automagically generates a delegate that points to an automagically generated method). The where Extension method takes a Predicate(delegate to a method that takes elements of a type and returns true or false) and applies that method to each of the items in the Collection and returns an IEnumerable<T> for the ones that return true. This is how it all works out in the end, so basically the compiler and the .Net framework API are just taking a lot of boilerplate code off of your hands.

Definitely read the 5 minute overview for an example on how to read the Xml file in to use Linq to Xml. Here's a code project article that goes fairly in depth on an explanation of Linq and the technology behind it if you are interested in further reading and understanding the basics. I would honestly play with it for a while before you try to learn the basics, I think it is something that you need to just see and use for a bit and then all of the explanation comes quicker.
