Yeah, but seriously I want your opinion on it. Obviously you can't really decide because it's not finished, but up to this point, how do you like it?

From what you've posted, I can tell you that it's somewhat okay of a model.

However because I'm a picky bastard I'll point out the things that I would do differently.
Image
The areas outlined in red are details that I really feel like should be details within the bump map. If they just have to be there, put them in the FP model. In fact I believe Bungie even made these details as part of the bump map.

The edges outlined in blue, I feel, have an excessive amount of sides. If you just chamfer the edge with one side and smooth the curve, you won't be able to tell the difference between the high-detailed and the low-detailed versions (in-game).

Finally (this one is the least important IMO), the details in green just seem unnecessary. :| I know you're basing it off of the MA37, but they're at the bottom of the handle, near the magazine, where you won't be able to see them anyway.

Eh my two cents. You're free to do as you wish.

the areas in blue, only have 3 sides. It is the lighting that makes it look smoother. The rest I am keeping. And yes, this is going to be a FP model.

From wiki:
GPU and system chipset: 233 MHz "NV2A" ASIC. Co-developed by Microsoft and Nvidia.
Geometry engine: 115 million vertices/second, 125 million particles/second (peak)
970,833 triangles per frame at 30 frame/s

Though you also have to understand that the engine also has to do with how much it can render as well.

That barrel at the bottom needs to be enlarged just a tad.

Is it just me or does the assault rifle look like a Tar with extra metal?

It don't think it's a barrel, it looks more like a flashlight. The top one looks like a laser pointer, and the middle one is the barrel.

Yeah we will call it "The damn cylinder thing at the bottom" that will defiantly work out.

And more pics are to come... I am going to open the model and add more detail. I have the 3rd Person model done... I think I am going to upload this for anyone to use when It's done. Kind of like I did with my compass shader. I also have a good question, what items are on the display? I know there is the ones and tens shader, but does it have a compass or a ammo icon, or is it just ones and tens?

Thank you.

Unfortunately, I am absolutely terrible at making bitmaps, the most that will get done probably is the UV Unwrap, and the bump-map. I do, however, have DemonicSandwich's Clay Shaders, so I think I will use them to fix smoothing...

Anyone want to see the model in it's "inflatable" mode?

As of now it only has the ammo counter on display. It doesn't look like Bungie will be adding anything else, for the ones and tens shaders take up most of the space.

I could possibly unwrap/skin it for you.

Not visually Halo related, but started this to learn about animation formats and kept going beyond a couple of movements. This is my first animation attempt and human object creation after about 3 or 4 days. Still a complete noob, but learning none the less.

It's hard to see with no background, but there is a modeled gun in his hand and particle generation of blood out the back of his head.

I am going to redo some of my model. The front piece is bad. I am going to remove it and continue to work on the model a lot more. Fixing lots of errors.
