Halomods vs. Remnantmods Modding Competition Discussion
Halomods vs. Remnantmods Modding Competition
I have been for a while now seeing a drastic decline in all modding on this board, as well as the Remnantmods boards. I know that there are some very good modders at both websites and that they are very capable of doing some amazing things with the halo games. So I had this idea today that by encouraging friendly competition between the two websites it would encourage members to get together and create some new mods for everyone to enjoy.
I would want the competition to run for a period of 6 weeks from start to finish, and for the final judging to be finished in the two weeks t follow that.
Mods could be submitted in any stage of completion and of any type of modding (eg. Skinnning, Model injections, New Levels created from machines or boxs, or old levels redone to a new theme, anything would be accepted)
Mods would be judged on a range of different category's(these could include for example: Skinning, Gameplay Balance, uniqueness, Theme, or any combination of numerous possible category's).
As of right now this is just in the potential planning stage so nothing is set, and everything right now is up for discussion or change. If you think this might be a fun competition to hold, then please submit a vote to the poll, and make a reply to this thread if you have any ideas for how to make this competition as good as it can be.

I need to get Floodout II out. Entity constantly turning my map green isn't making it come out any faster.
But I like this idea. Hopefully it will get people to make more mods.

You posted the same exact post on HaloMods didn't you?
Anyway, this sounds like fun, though I don't mod anymore, still...

I still think we should do my Christmas idea I think it was Demonic who got the lights working and Click got a santa hat on MC.

Re: Halomods vs. Remnantmods Modding Competition Discussion
thats no excuse, Ive completely rebuilt the mod im working on more the 16 times, and had to make several changes to what the origanal plan was, because of Apps not being able to do what i want.
Ive got mad gave up and deleted my backups, then decided to start from scratch, only to find out that Entity was hungry that day and ate my map b4 i did any cloning, building, or duping.
Sometimes it freezes just opening your Scnr plugin, and the map is toast.
But i start over, and rebuild, and make changes, and overcome, cause damnit, im a modder!
And if i have to start all over and learn how to hex, just to finish these mods, I WILL!
(man i hope it dont come to that) LoL

Maybe once the first beta of mutation is out.

Yes, but its a big let down when you ever get an "Failed to load Map" or black screen of death... or worse, entity pisses on, then consumes your map... so it can never be read nor repaired.
That's what really killed my modding spirit, just having to redoing every little thing, and the flaming loops you must jump through sometimes...

Entity does all those crazy things to me on a daily basis, and ive memorized all the coords of all map spawns for to mods im working on right now, problem is i cant tell which go to which map. (short term memory loss)

It turns my contrails red and huge. It removed MC's hand.Eaton wrote:Entity turns my maps green.
I have a map that I'm working on but I'm not sure what the theme is, other then man slaughter.
Maybe we could somehow take a few parts from each of each others mods and come up with something complete.

Who was the one who thought of doing the Star Wars mod? I'm still interested in making some pod models ^_^

Re: Halomods vs. Remnantmods Modding Competition Discussion
Does anyone at Halomods even know about this contest? We need a sign up list on both sites so we know people are participating. I dont want to create the coolest mod of the year, only to compete with that one crazy kid from 7Sins.
