Joystiq has learned that the previously rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved will indeed launch this holiday season for Xbox 360 with a full visual overhaul. Sources explain that the re-release is not Bungie's 2001 Xbox game simply running at a higher resolution -- it's being remade with new art assets. While Halo's audio will likely remain unaltered, the controls will allow for more recent Halo configurations.

The Halo: Combat Evolved remake is allegedly being developed by New Jersey-based Saber Interactive, the company behind TimeShift and Namco's upcoming Inversion, but we've been unable to confirm the nature of the engine powering it. We understand that it's something other than the Reach engine.

The Halo: Combat Evolved update, one of two Halo games currently in development under the watchful eye of 343 Industries, is expected to support 1080p resolution and 3D televisions. Details on multiplayer are supposedly still being worked out, but we understand the remake will likely feature online co-op (the original game supported two-player split-screen co-op).

The game is expected to re-evolve on November 15, 2011, ten years after Halo: Combat Evolved launched alongside the Xbox. Our sources didn't know of any plans to similarly upgrade the recently disconnected Halo 2, but it's hard to imagine Microsoft playing favorites with its biggest franchise.

If it is true, that would be pretty cool. Would like to see a updated Halo1.

Oh and they could call it: Halo: Graphics Evolved or something.

Well, a trip to the in-laws has got me programming again (been a while). Currently implementing a new idea I had quite a while ago for an old task, but never got around to. It probably won't get much use, other than Ogrish maybe, but it should not only solve some old issues with entity, but simplify as well. :|

Well, today I installed a new Phenom II x4 965. On first boot everything seemed fine so I ran some stress tests to check the temps. It went up to 55C which is not good. I noticed my motherboard had the voltage too high so I lowered it and that brought my full load temps down to 45C, 28 idle.

So I decided to set my ram back to it's overclocked settings, I went into the bios and set everything accordingly.

Well... It booted just fine and I ran another stress test and it did about the same as before except. IT'S AT 4GHz
Apparently I forgot to lower the CPU multiplier.

Hitting speed bumps along the way, but the redesigned Meta Editor is coming along nicely :D
Just a few more issues to work out and then maybe I can work on implementing a working RTH into Entity :?

I need music for my training. I was using these really old and abused NiMH AA batteries for my player. They would hold a full charge for about 3 hours tops.
A few days ago I happened to find a newish AA in a drawer.

Now I don't have to worry about it being flat when I need it.

Got the new Meta Editor running almost bug free. Just need to look at why it's arranging the data listings in some random order as opposed to the usual one and then implement the save algomorithm (which should be easy).

This is a completely different design than the usual Meta Editor design. Some benefits are:
* Way faster loading (Can get into SCNR tag in about 1/4 second)
* no worries about running out of memory for controls
* Now opened as a floating window, which allows for multiple tags to be opened simultaniously and reflexive data to be viewed at same time as well
* Changing a parent reflexive doesn't change a child reflexive, which may help for comparing data
* Reflexives alphabetically ordered for ease of finding
* Unused reflexives can be hidden from view (default)
* Original Meta Editor is still available if desired!

Well, maybe thanks to the last thread, I can hopefully get RTH to work on my xbox so I can test functionality. I will most probably release the new editor without RTH support and get feedback with any problems that may exist. I am trying to test it out as much as possible to reduce issues.
I had this idea for ages, but I was always trying to do other things, so I just tried patching the other editors to reduce work (which I think took longer than doing this). Hopefully sometime this week I'll get it out, but first, this should've been posted 3 weeks ago:

New Baby Boy born Jan 23! Now I have a daughter and a son! :D

(So if it's not done this week, it's cause I'm kinda busy  )

Crazy that you have time to care for a new born and code still. They're supposed to make you lose so much sleep in the first year aren't they? If you do implement RTH just remember to have an option to poke each individual item, or only items that have been changed, to avoid freezing issues.

Thanks! I will hopefully have it out soon. Just a few minor things to do now, such as saving. lol. Also, Index values, data organization and some other stuff.

That's why you lose so much sleep! Because in order to code you have to start at midnight
Thanks for the info, I will definately do that. I haven't worked with RTH at all, so any info at all will be great.

I think that for the saving I am going to make a duplicate copy of the tags memory, and then you won't have to save until you are finished editing everything. Also an auto-save option will be implemented for sure and with the duplicated memory I can not only use it to compare and poke only changed values, but also allow values to be reset back to their original value (either single, whole chunk or whole tag) as well.
I figure this will allow alot of flexibility while working with it.
