Double Post:

Zaid and I have had some hilarious (and douchey, on my part) encounters on Xbox Live lately. I think back to the last couple things that happened, and I laugh my ass off at how ridiculous/stupid I am sometimes. LMAO!

Chatting with some buddies from the days I used to play Halo 2 on a regular basis and started reminiscing about modding and then Remnant, this site's changed quite a bit since I last logged on. Figured I might as well make a post, and what better place than the happiness thread?
I may be a single guy, 20 years old, and still living with his mother.. but I have a pretty good paying job working in a diesel mechanic shop and am able to help that mother with bills that she would otherwise be unable to pay.
I've come a long way since the days I used to frequent this site, I remember checking it every day after school to see what new and exciting mods/ideas this community came up with, and to share a few of my own ideas along the way.
I hope all of you are doing well also. Goodbye for now.

You're goddamn right 8-) , gonna miss that show, but I am happy it ended like it needed and not get stretched by more seasons as other shows do and become dull, that ending was great and satisfying.
Still looking forward to game of thrones!

It's strange that many of the multiplayer maps in H2 are like old familiar places from childhood in my mind. Beaver Creek is like some old friend's back yard, and Foundation is like that old busted strip mall where I used to skateboard, and Containment is like some big snobby neighborhood in the suburbs that I never liked but which is part of my hometown experience nevertheless. The memories associated with these virtual places seem to live alongside memories of real places, probably because I spent so much time "there" and had a lot of good times and intense emotions (from all the life-and-death experiences, especially death ones  ).

I miss modding. By the time I got pretty good at it, the game was dead and rallying enough players for a decent mod game was no longer feasible. The thrill of discovery and satisfaction of success usually triumphed over the frustrations of a frozen Xbox and corrupted maps. I would come back for custom BSP though, or if there were enough resurgence of interest from several players.

I totally agree CP, I would definitely come back to modding if enough people were interested. Even though we have tools and resources available to make our own games, nothing is as satisfying as making a nice Halo 2 Mod. (Not that I would know, I never really finished a mod project.)

I really want to get back into the modding scene. Especially for Halo 2! It's hard just hard to find enough time to sit down and complete a map, or find a good plugin set :p

This is the happiness thread, though talking about memories, went back to my parents home, my mother threw away my modded xbox thinking it was broken
Though I still have all the H2 modding files and projects saved in a HDD

If you ask me, if what you like is H2 and not necessarily its engine and modding it, you'd have more chances at getting an audience aka players by using some more recent engine and porting H2 maps to it.
I ported a JSRF level (xbox game) as a TF2 map and hosted it in a server for a while, TF2 players like to see levels ported from other games, there's many Mario 64 maps in TF2, though a TF2 server cannot go very long without moderation when its a silly map like that, I got lots of trolls so I no longer host it.

I am sure a Halo 2 map in TF2 would get lots of attention, TF2 CTF beavercreek? I think someone made a remake already of that one, though not using any asset from H2.

They announced the specs of one of these steam box, these are pretty good specs, I wonder how that doesn't turn into an oven seeing the dimensions of the thing, its relatively small for what it packs.
Just curious about the price now, right now these specs might be expensive, but down the line its just going to get cheaper and still be better than the PS4/Xbone.

Wow some of those boxes would be worth well over a grand. How the fuck? NVidia must be extreeeeemely generous with their cards lol.

Also, good to see you around neodos, thought you were dead or got an art career somewhere in Europe lol.

I really hope Halo 3 comes to PC with an editing kit. The evidence out there is hope-raising but nothing else really. Would be cool to see what this crew would do.

Starting October 15th, I'm taking a gap year to Australia! Unfortunately, this does mean I'll be online even less than I am now...but I will always try an stop by when I can.
Also, I'm giving a lecture to some game design students on Wednesday about the games industry and how to break into it.
Gonna promote modding as a good entry point and mention remnant, so who knows? might get some new users lol

Nice! Where down under? Was in Sydney and Melbourne for a bit over the summer for family, pretty awesome, but also confusing due to seasonal switching lol.

I always wanted to go to Australia. The only thing is that Australia has the largest number of deadly snakes, bugs and aquatic critters of any continent. For example, the atrax robustus, whose venom can kill a human in four hours. While it is a deadly spider, at least it's also an AGGRESSIVE MEAN CUSS OF A SPIDER with inch-long fangs that can pierce a leather boot. I saw a special on TV about it and it made me afraid.

Anyway, you might as well check out the Great Barrier Reef while it still exists. Keep us posted about how you feel about the various places you stay. I might want to live there one day.

I have one, but I am pretty bad at blogging and being regular at it.

There's so much stuff going on in Tumblr, as well as weird stuff too
I was kind of put off by the lack of comments, but its kind of good in a way as if you look at the comments in some websites, they rarely are constructive or useful, at least in tumblr people share or just reblog adding some comment.
Tumblr's layout are so random and every user has a different one, took me a while to understand how it all works.

Same here. I won't be buying one unless a new Halo game comes out, ha. Btw, Click, cool playing Halo 4 with you last night. You kicked ass considering you not playing very much. Hope we can play again sometime.
