Reading the previous post, I did buy some gifts for some friends. I gave my friend Ryan a 10 dollar RP (RiotPoint) card for League of Legends, and got my cousin Alex a Rubik's Cube with How-To DVD haha.

Went to the shooting range today, and I destroyed a silhouette of Osama Bin Laden. I have to thank Halo for my shooting ability.

I didn't get around to getting anybody gifts (Possibly because I'm 17 with no money and no job) . I got a couple gift cards which is nice. Had lots of food haha. Tamales, Ham, Prime Rib, Green bean casserole, Mashed potatoes, chili, and Cheese cake. It was great. I have never tried horse radish sauce before so I put a small scoop on my plate, probably about the size of a quarter.. Forgot it was there rotated my plate to put the mashed potatoes closer to my face annnd scooped up a little and my eyes begin to water and I can't breathe very well.. Turns out I ate the entire pile of horse radish in one bite.. Last time I ever use horse radish sauce ever again, I hate it. Merry Christmas.

My brother gave me wasabi for the first time. It was weird. It was like someone ran up to you, punched you in the face, than ran away. As quick as the "sensation" came, it left.

I really like the gui of visual studios 2012: much easier on the eyes than 2010 or 2008 was. Begun learning how to code in C++ and I rather enjoy that as well. Not sure I am looking forward to trying to code gui's with it though.

I agree with the Visual Studio UI it is great! Are you talking about Native C++?

Native C++ doesn't rely on the .Net CLR

Stiiilll unsure what that means to be honest. My understanding of it is there was a .net version of C++ which wasn't really c++ but just c++ style .net libraries and things? Whereas I really don't know what that means. I always just assumed compiling c++ code would give you machine code for your current system? Unsure.

As horrible as it seems... The first part is good news, a blessing if you will.

So over the past few weeks, I learned that my girlfriend was pregnant... Things quickly became complicated... Then this past week she had a miscarriage... Soon after that I broke up with her. Evil but I had good reasons. Lived, learned, shat my pants.

New years :). Best one yet. Went to my buddies condo downtown for some pregame drinking. Started with a burger... Then a few beers. Then pizza. Then poker and beer. Then took some tums lmao.

Around 9 there was 5 in our group ready to leave to the bar. We called a taxi. All crammed in. Went to the bar. Started drinking. Started getting drunker. Made out with this random chick. Smoked weed with random people when i went out for cigs.

Chick ended up having to leave with her group so she grabbed my number and has been texting me ever since..

The friend that owns the condo left early, an hour later I hear the news and decide to split since we were all staying the night there... So I got to walk a mile from the bar there. On the way I met some homeless guy in a wheelchair that was "ran over by a train" at one point.

The entire way home. Im crunk as fuck trying not to get hit by a car or raped in an alley way... I was stressing that the door may be locked... and my phone being dead wouldn't exactly help get access...

I enter the building... walk down some halls... now 2 am.... grab the door knob hoping its not locked!... Turn it! Open the door to see my friend on his couch just finishing the rolling of a joint! and We smoke, and play halo. Everyone else showed up like an hour later.

Pretty fucking fun. Also stepped in someones puke at the bar.. He threw up on the floor... then his friend literally said "dude you threw up on the floor! DO IT AGAIN!!"

Such a fucking night.

I got this image from Wikipedia:

Basically C# and Visual Basic use the .NET framework to run. Most C++ projects do not use Managed code like Visual Basic and C# do, however you can use C++ with the .NET framework, thus making it use managed code. This enables you to code in C++ syntax and whatnot, but within a managed code environment. I really don't know any other way of explaining this without showing code. It seems that VS 2012 does not offer any managed C++ projects, so I am assuming that you are programming naively.

Speaking of programming, I see you took your other post down fairly soon after posting it. So, did you find a project to express you good feelings on or did you just fall into depression and decide not to be creative?

Yeah as Click pointed out, a managed assembly(C#, VB or C++) rely on the Common Language Runtime(a virtual machine that "Just In Time" compiles the "Common Intermediate Language" to machine code) to run, native C++ would require that the executable has been compiled targeting the machine architecture that it is being run on such as Windows, Linux, Mac as well as x84, x64 and ARM cpu.

I decided to take it down because I remembered I have some projects that I could continue or finish.

What's wrong with the current one, do you not own it? Just wondering.

Yesterday my Radeon HD 7850 2GB arrived at my door. Swapped out my old 9600GT's and installed the latest non beta drivers and loaded up Far Cry 3 (Came with card). I set the video settings to custom and set everything to it's highest except PostFX, which I disabled in the settings file because honestly it just adds blur.

Game runs smooth as butter and I'm really enjoying it. The environment is exactly what I want in a game, large open world, great story line (so far) without needing to take a specific path to complete it. I like the day/night cycle, although I would like it to be longer, there might be a setting or mod for it. I played it over 4 hours last night but I had to quit because I had to leave for work...

But is money a good motivator? I'm struggling with the idea that I could ever program long-term even with monetary gain.

Holy shizz, Grim, you're getting paid for that? Who is paying you?!

And I would argue that money is a good way to motivate people--of course the money has to be the right amount.
