For once, I would like to go into a hardware store, ask an employee where X item is located, and then just be fucking told/lead to where X item is.

Not asked what it's for.
Not asked what goal I am trying to accomplish or what I am building with it.
Not given broken advice from a ignorant redneck to accomplish my goal.
And not lead around every part of the store other than the isle that contains the item I require.

It would cut each trip by ten minutes or more if they told me where the shit is, and then stfu.

Well, I find out that my girlfriend decided to go out and get drunk with a bunch of her friends, and then decided she hates me and goes out with this other guy who she said she could never date, ever.

But on the bright side, I can now stop worrying about her and put my mind to something a bit more proactive, like getting my room and the basement cleaned up.

It's hard to forget something you're born with, but it's so easy to just give it the middle finger. At least I now have even more free time, maybe I'll find a second job so I can afford to put some real power into my car. Hopefully I can save up enough to do a cross country fishing trip.

This is both happiness and rantiness.

When we moved into our final house about a month ago, my dad spoke to the neighbor.
At some point my dad mentioned the problem family and our security system that we used to capture their threats and stupidity at the past house.
The neighbor starting saying how it's "illegal and an invasion of privacy" to have the security cameras on our home.

The guy is also an ignorant drunkard. Whom speeds and drives drunk, which appears to be the real reason he claims what he does about the cameras because he doesn't wanna be cause on camera doing those things.

This afternoon a police officer informed me his house was 'supposedly' broken into and robbed.
And I thought quietly to myself "betcha you wish we had to those cameras now eh?" Sucks for him, he was a soft target after all.

Though it's more rant because...ya know, my next door neighbor "supposedly" got robbed. So I have to step up my plans for camera installation.

This cold...

Also, it seems Halo2 modding is at a lowest possible minimum without being completely dead... as... well... the only person that seems to be still moddding is Ogrish. I saw Dark was working on modding Reach though, I would of joined his forum but I am doubtful I could be of any help.

I seriously would commit some time to Halo if every capability I've been waiting around for was possible (it's actually only one, damn custom BSPs). Other than that, I've no interest to hack at the game because I always end up just not caring unless I'm modeling a map.

On the rant side, I fucked up my English presentation. Goddamn it I should've aced that.

Halo 2 Modding still lives in my heart despite the 3 games that have been released after it.

We should start making our own game all together on a new game engine like cry engine, unreal or whatever... last time i asked no one really wanted/had time, I know we most love modding Halo 2 and nothing else on any other game then halo, but the time and effort spent on creating something on Halo 2 modding would be 10 time more productive on an actual open game engine with real tools, same for creativity.

While that is true, I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't have the time to spend on such a project...
That being said, the stuff I'm doing for uni right now could be used as such...
I'm writing a framework similar to XNA, but its written in C++ and runs on OpenGL, DirectX and the PS2...

Well yeah nor do I really have much time either, though I said "making a game" I should have rather said: a level or some sort of nonsense fun sandbox we could play online.

Source, though while being somewhat graphically outdated compared to games now a days and having outdated and buggy tools, is quite enjoyable to mod. At least it won't feel like too much of a change from the H2 engine.

You can compile DLLs for it, the code is in C++ and you can make custom shaders. It has a tool for mapping(Hammer) which you can use to create brush based bsp, place and configure entities, script and texture brushwork.

Though, while support for it is low(no vis optimization and per-vertex lighting, no lightmapping) you can make maps out of models, you would also have to split it up into a areas(depending on how many polygons the model is) and place invisible brushwork to block VIS(so things on the other-side wouldn't render) in certain areas of your model.

I've heard good things about UDK, but I don't really enjoy using it's tools.

Gah i wouldn't use Source, I mean it doesn't even have good normal mapping and the "lightmaps"/real time lights are bad on their bsp system, i have seen shadows going through walls and floors :/

But I prefer something like UDK or Cry for the visual style and the scripting system they got, did you see the latest UDK update? pretty cool.

Now THAT sounds like a cool project to work on. If I can't create custom content for any other Halo game (not Custom Edition. No.), why not just throw one together for fun? Dibs on level design.

Yeah, the UDK and Cry engine do work and look pretty good. I don't know them to well outside of just playing with their editor tools, so I couldn't help out to much on that one. Though, if you want to make levels out of models, the UDK and Cry have good support for it.

Only reason I recommended Source is because I can help with it, besides being easy to jump right into, it has no advantages over the UDK or Cry engine.

Also, neodos, I don't know how you got light to go through brushes, maybe to low of a lightmap scale? Anyways, Source's lightmapping system works well for what it was made to do, even if it is outdated.
