Halo 2 Servers Being Shutdown!

Post by Eaton »

http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/51 ... -2-servers

I've hardly played Halo 2 online and the few matches I did, I didn't think it was much fun. I found Halo 3's multiplayer to be far better. I never had XBL on my original Xbox, but I'm sure the game was great on XBL. So get in all the matches you can before September 22nd!!!

I feel bad for the Halo2 players, well, the ones that play online... as I can't, this doesn't effect me what-so-ever.

Halo 2 was the first game I ever played on Xbox LIVE, I've racked up more gaming time playing Halo2 on XBL than any other game I've ever owned.
All things come to an end eventually. Hell, they've kept those servers online for almost 5 years.
While it's sad that it's finally coming down, I won't miss it much. I stopped playing Halo 2 XBL like 2 years ago.

I haven't played in a moon's age, but is this just going to effect matchmaking or will it no longer allow private matches as well?

Most likely just matchmaking but reading the part were the 100 friend limit is hard coded into the game suggests you may not even be able to sign into LIVE either while Halo2 is running.

I wanna register on that site and post something about Xlink getting more members due to H2X LIVE being shut down, then people will go to Xlink knowing they can play H2X on it.... +some double/triple digit number for the Xlink community...

Last time I checked you can only have 100 on 360 too......

Wounder how long it will be until they shut down the xbox 1 live servers.....

On the 360 you can only have 100 friends because they haven't been able to change it; is what I understood from the link...
Shutting down H2 servers would be one step in shutting down original xbox LIVE altogether.

It's not that they can't because that is bullshit. It's that they don't want to because they think shutting down the servers will put some extra dough in their pockets. Wich it will, but thats still bullshit.

Now I have a question for you all, do you even know all 100 people on your friends list?

Exactly. (¬_¬)

I had a glitch happen where my friends list went over 100, and after that happened it didn't limit me to having more. The only problem was that some of my friends renamed their account or removed me because they didn't know who I was, but then again I only added them so I could have more custom games to choose from.

I had 115 at one point.

I could delete every one of my friends on my list and it still wouldn't make a difference as to how I play online.

I don't get why so many people use Xlink Kai, XBC is so much easier to use, Xlink Kai is very stubborn. It barely works and now that they added a web interface, they completely ruined it.

I think it's obvious why people avoid XBC.

Bleh, I dislike XBC.

I like using Xlink more. In fact when I need to test something with Cougar, he doesn't even have to make an arena, he just magically appears in my pregame lobby.
