Why 64bit? All I've heard from 64bit users is complaints...

Re: XP or 7?
I have had NO problems with x64, none! Its works just like any other operating system, except for one thing, i havent got a virus yet! Installed since October 2008, no problems so far.
Actually had ONE problem, but was quickly solved
My advice, at LEAST give x64 a chance, you will love it

If it isnt compatible, it has a x64 counterpart that works just as good, if not betterxzodia wrote:What about program compatibility?

DragonRire, No need to be angry, the decision is ultimately up to him. I am running 32x and its Halo 2 Program compatibility is fine with it. It's running very smooth. Choose whatever version you want.

Maybe its just my computer, but when i had 7 installed i did have some issues with compatibility.
Although the pros by far outweigh the cons with 7. The operating system it self is amazing, you just might have some programs that wont run.

Why don't you just duel boot xp and 7?

I'm guessing you meant: I hate having two OS's.xzodia wrote:Thats what I'm doing atm but I had having to OS's
I vote 7. Ever since installing the beta I have never gone back to xp unless I had to. I have always either used linux or 7. As for 64 bit it's really up to you if you want to try it, I have no experience with 64 bit.

There is no point in using 64 bit unless you actually have the ram to push into 64 bit addresses, it's around 3 or 4 gigs i believe.

I use x64 for two reasons 1) Ram usage 2) Virus protectionGrimdoomer wrote:There is no point in using 64 bit unless you actually have the ram to push into 64 bit addresses, it's around 3 or 4 gigs i believe.

Don't switch unless it's required to do so.

Yea, unless you have a reason, wait until the retail version of windows 7 hits. Or if you want to use it now: I recommend a dual-boot.

Re: XP or 7?
I'm using 7 as my main OS and I think it's great. Run's fast, easy to use, backs up your old stuff during the installation aswell.
