Hmm.. Halomods...
Random thought.
A while back HM had a fairly significant outage, where it was down for several days. When prompting Iron_Forge, he directed me to an article explaining it. Halomods' current hosting provider, The Planet, had an explosion in their building. After watching many hours of the repetitive coverage of hurricane Ike, and watching as it intensified, I had a thought occur. I went back to the aforementioned article, because I was sure the host was based in Texas somewhere, where the hurricane has made landfall. There's a lot of power outages and flooding in Houston, where The Planet is located. Other sites, such as Rooster Teeth, have made specific news posts about potential issues with their Houston servers. Supermodder has just alerted me to an issue with the board, and in the minute or two between receiving his PM and attempting to post a message in C&S stating that we were aware of the issue, to deter people from posting about it a bunch, the server went into its "Critical error" state we are all familiar with. For once (Or rather, twice now), I think there's a legitimate cause for the site being down, and potentially one that could keep the site down for a long time, and possibly cause permanent data loss.
tl;dr: Halomods server probably hit by hurricane. This concludes my random thought thread.

So this could possibly be the end of HaloMods?
Doesnt any one make dumps of the database on a regular basis? Or atleast every once in a while?

Don't snort the magic, we need it for the network.

Admins are largely inactive.
Also, I never said there would be data lost. The likelihood of that is very remote.

We'd have to wait for the server to come back up for that.Dragonfire wrote:The only info im afraid of being lost is the halo 2 tuts, anyone wanna maybe ban together and help transfer them to here in case it does go down?

Archive.org
for the Halo 2 tutorials.
Or we could transfer here, either way.

Re: Hmm.. Halomods...
Like it or not, Halomods is still the center of most of Halo 2 modding because of what RaZoR73 and Dragonfire pointed out.
It has a huge wealth of information and tools.

Many things we may have to the creators of the topic, many people, even if credit have been given, are very tight about people re-posting there topics.Dragonfire wrote:I'm sure we can all work together and just transfer the topics to here for now just using the quote systemAumaan Anubis wrote:Archive.org

And Maybe if we become large enough, we can become the next halomods... but we wont fall apart, still it took them about 5 years to do so.

Im sure the topic posters wont mind if we try to preserve their topics, its not like we're spamming them through the net
