Halo 2: The Pit

For the past while now, I had the idea to remake The Pit, the multiplayer level from Halo 3. Due to the map's blockyness, it would be fairly easy to remake it with simple parallelepiped-stretching for collision, but of course, modeling must be involved, so I got started recently.

Why? Because I have nothing to do, and this project can get me back into modeling.

I made this thread mainly as a place where I can post all my progress, and if I lose things, it's all in one place ... and you can all view it. The map is in its very (emphasis on very) early stages, but I will be posting pictures of its progress.

I'll start with one pic. Later today, I'll try to complete the upper base:

(Click for high-res).

More pics to come.

... On a side note, anyone willing to help can; I need someone to help texture the pieces, and I need reference pics. I have no Halo 3 / Xbox atm, and pictures are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time,
NotZac.

Sweet! Good luck man. I have a PMI with shader groups almost finished so that should help you make this thing one fine piece of ass :l0l:

That would make this map a lot more simpler. Less models, smaller map file. Thanks a lot Jackson.

Btw, I fixed (I think) the sizing issues on the walls (speaking mainly to Dark).

I'm completely redoing the interior of the base. There's so many normal errors on the ceiling that I didn't catch, it's hilarious. Stupid boolean subtractions.

Wow. Thanks. I'm not sure, though. I enjoy skinning. Also, you're going to have to help me texture / UV / whatever. I'm awful.

But, they look good. Thanks again.

Congrats Zach. Watching you people make maps for Halo 2 makes me want to start modding again. I will see if I can fit time on a project. Don't count on it though.

If you want to use this you'll need to swap out the FP models of the original H2 SMG and also the model in the hlmt, If i remember correctly it has a ground point marker. If the weapon lights up from a distance then increase the bounding radius of the [weap].

I was thinking (sorry guys, no better renders), if I finish this project, would anyone want me to do more? Foundry and Rats Nest maybe? Just a thought.

Also, added a poll.

I like it, I might download it :D

And I don't download very many mods...

Also, I voted no, I want all the glory.

Those textures are looking sweet! I'de be all about doin rat's nest! One question though. I havent looked into this whole mapping with collision boxes thing; is there a limit to how many boxes we can use to provide proper collision?

Looking good. Ask me if you need anymore modeling or bitmap help. You know where to find me.
Also I can hook you up with psd's for the bitmaps up there to help you out.

I wouldn't mind some .psds, but skinning isn't what I need help with, it's texturing the damn thing.

Not trying to be the bad guy here, but i have tried, and i cant see how you will do all the collisions for this map, using 110 availabe spawns. But if you built this map in a S.P map
You could have more spawns.
