Open Source?

Post by JacksonCougar »

It would be my desire to make all the code from th project be open-sourced, or accessible by anyone.

Or failing that.

Have weekly build of the app that anybody can download :\

The most I could agree to is releasing frequent updated builds to the public after finishing a few methods.

As Grimdoomer has stated, and I have stated multiple times to you, I do not wish to release the source code along with the application, until we release the final build.

Apps can be decompiled (however with some errors) with an app called "reflector" so they could get parts of the code :?

Yeah, although you can also obfuscate it so that it doesn't make sense when its decompiled.

Allright guys, we had some discussion of this when we were first brainstorming, but it sort of died down until now. I'd like to bring it back, seeing as we(xzodia) have(has) been working on this a lot, and has been making much progress.

I see our options as this...

(1) Release a weekly(can be changed) build of the application to the public, without the source.
(2) Release a weekly(can be changed) build of the application to the public, with the source.
(3) Release the final application at the end of the project, with the source.
(4) Release the final application at the end of the project, without the source.
(5) Release absolutely nothing.

I have no strong personal opinion on the matter, but I would like to eliminate choices 5 and 2.

Of course, there's only two people, Grimdoomer and Xzodia, physically working on the application, so it's completely up to you two.

However, if we are going to release weekly(or so) builds, we'd have to start planning articles, updates, and public builds.

Grimdoomer and Xzodia, battle it out!

I'm fairly sure we had already decided not to release the source until it was complete, and to release build's when there's something worth releasing...

I don't remember that :|

I remember discussing it, but we never came to an official solution. I think...

Majority concensus.

We have like, five people or so. So, if we have three people that 'vote' for one solution, then it's 'official.'
