Legendary Mappack Discussion

Post by JacksonCougar »

Keep teh rant thread and happiness thread clean please :)

I love the look of that mossy level... <_< not sure of the name even though me and demonic have been playing it for liek ever... Um... I guess that is why actually... 2 am..

I thought that Avalaunch (or whatever --_--) was way too empty! needs moar blocs!

I loved Lockout but it was a lil dark and depressing of a map... bad map choice for trying to stay awake :|

Discuss! Hates, loves, changes you would have made, things that fail, things that amaze, tricks you found, whatever: please keep it here! :p

Avalanche is a great Team Slayer/CTF map.

Blackout plays just like Lockout and is great for FFA games.

Ghost Town is a great game for all gametypes, even Infection.

those are my opinions.

I love the maps overall, but...
  • Avalanche:
  • They made the warthog turret way too fucking powerful.
  • They made the Hornet's machines guns way too weak, if they planned on that weak of machine guns they could've at least left the rockets on it.
  • The lifts in the center structure are a pain in the ass, don't even try to take a vehicle in them slower than top speed.
  • There is ice and snow everywhere so they could've tweaked the warthog traction to be a bit more slippery.
  • Why the hell does only the human vehicles have snow on them while the Covy vehicles, the ones actually parked out IN the snow, remain clean and shinny?
  • NEVER have each teams snipers spawned closer than 15 yards.
  • The bases are way too damn small.
  • Nearly every aspect of the map reminds me of a modder created map: too many vehicles, poorly designed bases, textures that look good far away but are not as good at 10 yards, no Obstacles what-so-ever, unbalanced vehicle damage, objectives too easy to get but very little methods of getting out safely, etc...
Keep in mind that I don't hate the map, I just post things I hate about it, they game play is still enjoyable.
...and its the only one I actually took time to look at in forge.
  • Blackout
Can't really thing of anything I hate about it, haven't played it enough.
  • Ghost Town
Haven't played this one enough either.
  • The crumbled concrete gets annoying when your trying to snipe.

Ok guys, lets get bk on topic here... ;)

I personally havent played Halo 3 yet, but i like being the critic who looks at a series of games and sees what been improved and what was totally crap.

First off i think this map pack was a dud, i saw the pics from it this was my thought exactly...

"WTF is this!? I've seen mods on HM and Remnant better than this s**t and those were edited!!"

So really what gives? If we can "make" better maps than Bungie. :p

How can most of us make better maps then them???
and we have less tools to do so,....

they made the maps we mod, but we make them better :D
