Havok Complete for PC

Post by Twinreaper »

As many of you know, Havok Complete was announced for dl in May of this year. In case you guys want to know, I just recieved an e-mail back from Havok rep Catherine R. She told me that by friday of next week the dl link will be up and the app will be complete. Right now they are just finishing up some gui tweaks for the app and thats what caused the delay. I like many others have probably been checking the Havok site eagerly awaiting this app, so I just thought I should share this news with the community.

Havok is what type of physics engine halo2/3 uses, it makes the rag dolls work right and many other things.

Havok and it's plugins for numerous other apps also makes it possible for modeling for H1 and H2 in 3ds max....i think? Also with this PC release we also hope to gain some insight to how to inject our own custom bsp into the H2 maps. I myself am hoping to gain some knowledge about how the tags themselves are compiled into their working form. To date as far as i know, noone has been able to compile a single tag like (bloc) completely from scratch. Do I smell possible plugins from xzodia for this in the future? :rub:

PS: Aslo Havok Complete will contains all current apps like (Destruction, Animation, Behavior, Physics and Cloth).

Well bungie didn't only use havok, so this might give us some insight, but there will probably be more research needed.

thanks for the update, i've been watching the site for news

i don't know if it will help with h1/2 though cause they will both have used older versions of the engine...

btw i'm fairly sure it is only animation and physics not the other stuffz

Doesn't Bungie use a modified version of Havok for Halo?

They use Blam, which at least incorporates havok, idk if its just a modified havok, or havok mixed with other physics engines.

As far as I know, given the info provided by me from a Havok rep, the version should be 5.4, and yes complete means all the mentioned apps. The most current which was just released is 5.5 As far as Bungie goes, they used the Havok physics as is. The license agreement between parties only allows for direct use of the physics apps and not modified versions of it. The BLAM engine is most likely just an in house tool used to tie together all the outputted data and compile it into the tag layout we know and love(and sometimes hate). The use of this pc version of Havok should most definatley give us insight into how the data for raw bsp's is created and we should be ablt to reference strings between a compiled H2bsp and a raw Havok bsp, to see if we can it over, or at least overwrite it. But until we see the app first hand, who knows if we can really use any of the data we get from it or at least make any plugins that would manipulate or display the data in a usable form. I think the goal of this release for us anyway, shold be to see if we can make ay any level, a usable similar game engine from it and if we can incorporate any or the H2 tags into it. That would be a killer FPS!!! Detox, as soon as I find anything more, you'll be the first to know! Since you are the reigning plug-in king :-)
