Remnantmods

Hey everyone, this program has been out for a while, but I want to bring it back into light, as it is a bit more efficient then the previous versions. Instead of downloading the file, writing, and uploading, it appends the file, which means it just adds on.

About once maybe twice a day I will clear the chat (especially if I am testing and it says I sign in and out repetitively) so don't be alarmed if it just says "Welcome to Remnant Chat! [timestamp]"

Now about the actual files on the FTP server, please don't go into them and start changing them. They obviously aren't encrypted, so just please don't be a dick and just change what someone says or I will have to change to a different server, which won't be good because this server had the best timings then another one I have access to.

Okay enough about notes, here are the (basic) features:
100% Flawless updater. (I tested this on multiple PC's and they all worked)
quick chat download times, upload isn't as fast.
Auto-update check on startup as well as manual update checking.

Here is how you want to load it (Do this only ONCE!)
download and extract.
Run the registry fixer and click fix.
then try running app.

If either of the programs throw errors, try running them as administrative. If it still throws errors, take a pic and post it.

Does it still have that erasing of the text glitch?

UI needs some serious work. Also IRC is a lot better as people can chat on any OS, iPhone/iPods, xbox, web based clients etc.

For everyone who is downloading for the first time, Update it TWICE! first update will give you the RemnantChat.exe, the second will update your Update.exe file. Then you won't need to update again. One update should handle both: RemnantChat.exe, and Update.exe. I had some code that needed to be re-arranged.

Me thinks you need an icon for this one...

Yeah my code had loooooootts of errors in it, basically it wouldnt throw exceptions because of the try catch code and half the time it would show something that doesnt exist like the update.

The biggest problem is that if two people type something at the same time it ends up deleting parts of the message. You need to set it up so each person in chat saves each individual message to a file on their machine rather then sending the whole chat to a server and then redownloading it.

Well the idea was, right as you click send, it downloads to file, and then appends the text to it and re uploads.

Downloaded, tried using it but I don't know if it was working either because I didn't see anyone on or I'm not really sure but. I get an error while trying to update.

Yeah, as I said before, most of the features of the old version are going to either not function, or function improperly because of some of the require files on the ftp server are non-existant.

Expect an update soon! You will need to download the new version manually, but I perfected the automatic updater so it should work flawlessly.

Yeah make sure you download the update. What is happening is that the program is looking for a registry key that isn't there and well it will give a null reference exception. Try loading the updater manually (Potential Software Updater.exe) and click update. It fixed that error. I will also update the download here on this page.

haha, let me know when I can just download it and make it work. I just downloaded it and each time I click it, it gives me errors. I tried that manual open and it didn't work either. Both files crash on me actually.

well I don't know what the problem is. First off, when does it throw the error. If it is as the program is loading, it could be because the program is trying access registry which you need Administrative access to do, If i is throwing a different error, show me a picture of it.
