Ogrish [5:38 UTC]: This thing actually works, whoah!
Obviously
Ogrish [5:40 UTC]: Now he needs to enable file transfers.
I don't think that's possible yet....
Ogrish [5:41 UTC]: And maybe a private chat option where you can talk directly to the selected client.
Implementing the idea in the near future...

The first would be simple, being it IS FTP. To send a file, just U/L it to a temp directory on the FTP server, once completed have another listbox that contains all the recently U/L files, where users can then D/L them. You could then keep them there until midnight cleanup or some alloted amount of time, as well as probably an option for the sender to remove the file at will.

The second however, remember it IS FTP, so any private chat isn't so private (unless encoding is used). You could have a private chat option, then sends user2 an invite. Once user2 accepts the invite, user2 also creates a new randomly generated filename containing a hash code and sends the name back to User1. When User1 receives the file, User1 reads out the hash code, deletes the file and the chat window is opened. This would ensure almost complete privacy, unless someone intercepted the file in the very small amount of time it existed.
Then you'd just use the hash code to encode/decode the private chat file.

Ok, it's not working very well anymore. I'm having some serious bugs shutting the app down.

It actually doesn't work at all anymore :(
I can't load it. I get an error.

I know this version is very buggy I was dead tired yesterday, so I didn't edit the solution one bit.

Announcement! Version increment change!

Instead of going like 1.0.0.0 to 1.1.0.0 etc now its going to be like this:

major.minor.minor.minor so pretty much this is the first working build, so it will be major version 1 and the minor version (update) is 9 so it will be like 1.0.0.9.

DAMN YOU! I just wrote a long post, but you updated and I lost it all!

Anyways, it goes either
Major.Minor.Revision.Build
or
Major.Minor.Build.Revision
(can't remember)

Major & Minor are almost always used, and the other two are optional. Sometimes Build refers to a clock time of when it was compiled, but again this is left to the developer.
Suggest using
1.9.0 or just 1.9
Then if there is a fix update you can just change the revision:
1.9.1
and if there is a new update, change the Minor:
1.10.0

okay, so I will go with the 1.9.0.0 thing... Thanks.

Update! I suggest downloading the program, rather then updating, because the download has the updated icons!

Yo fellas, I am on this waiting for pepes all the time, hah. I'm trying to find a way to get answers to some modding questions without posting threads, lol. Aim just is weak when it comes to asking questions. Click's tool is the continuous modding convo.

Just gave this a try and it is really buggy...

First, it said there was an update, so I updated, then it gave me an error, something to do with a error sending a message.
So I tried not updating, and that seemed to work but, it won't let me set my username?

And why does it need admin privileges?

Hmm...I downloaded it on Saturday and it worked fine. I think Click needs to have the server up for the chat to work actually. Basically, if click isn't in the chat, the chat isn't up...from what I have deduced. Ill get on later on today.

Lol this is the thread for the old FTP style Remnant Chat. I started a different thread up for the new version.

You can download it on that thread's page

Once I decide the program is pretty much done, and I don't plan on adding anymore features, I'll be able to run the software on a dedicated server and it will remain up even if I'm not logged into the chat.

BTW if the server isn't up, it doesn't close. It stays in the running programs list.

Ah yes, because there is a thread that listens for a reply from the server, and apparently you can't close a thread from another thread which sort of defeats the purpose of me adding that background thread listener in the first place...

You can't stop a thread from another thread? Can't you setup the thread so it ends when a variable = true?
