♪♫ Avatars, They Are a' Changing ♫♪

The front-page was designed with a 100px by 100px avatar in mind from its very inception. So while I have tried to refine it to accommodate our current avatar sizes, the results were less than favorable. So from now going out I have decided that we should switch to a 100px by 100px avatar size limit. If you feel that this is not a good idea, post below to explain why we need to keep the avatars the way that they are. My reasons for changing them are as follows:
Bandwidth: smaller avatars will mean that our pages will take less time to load for the first time.
Size: I plan on sticking with a 960px width for the forum and website from here on out, so having an ~140px avatar just seems like a waste of real-estate.
Lack of actual need: although ~140px did allow for the potential for creative avatars, I feel that the space was not really exploited as well as it could have: I would say most of our avatars would look just as good at 100px.
I'm not saying we have to do this, I am just saying that I feel this is our best option. Opinions and thoughts are welcome, but please do provide some arguments...
