"Dead to me" feature

Post by CaptainPoopface »

Most of the people who remain active or at least interested in H2 modding at this point are articulate, insightful, or otherwise productive. But there are still some people here and there whose posts are consistently devoid of meaningful contribution. It would be great if I could permanently ignore these people - never see their posts, and never see their user name on a thread as the most recent poster.

Sure, a "manual ignore" can be done, but when a thread appears active, I want to see what people have to say when they're having a decent discussion. I'm tired of being suckered into reading a thread that just has a worthless bump or other uninformative remark to a legitimate question someone has raised.

I've seen it done on other forums, and it's great. It even shows you a small space where that person's post would be, to remind you of the time and frustration you save by not reading it.

Thanks.

Sorry, I'll try to do better.

(This sounds like a pretty cool feature, but Jackson would break it somehow)
Zieon Eslador (1:23:09 AM): I haven't seen Watchmen, but I plan to eventually...
NotZachary (1:23:15 AM): it has nukes, random things happening, and retards screaming
NotZachary (1:23:19 AM): kinda like MW2

I think that is a too radical idea, what if someone didn't hide that person and replies to him? what if that person makes a thread?

Maybe, i don't know if it exists for PhpBB but for v bulletin there is the possiblity to sort of vote for each post with the options "agree, disagree, useful, artistic, funny, dumb, etc" you can only vote one of these per post though.

Just one question: would I be on this "Dead to me" list?

I try to contribute anytime I can, but I would understand if I wasn't really helpful.

I'm not exactly pro-this-feature.

Mostly for the "we're a family" per se, idea of Remnant. And a "dead to me" feature as you proposed doesn't fit into an ideal community.

I agree with this, if someone is constantly obnoxious they can be banned.
