How to Spawn and Edit Matte Paintings *Quality Update*

This is a tutorial on how to spawn Matte Paintings aka floating bitmaps. :D

You should be able to follow. However, do not forget the final steps that I am posting here.


***VERY IMPORTANT*** Use ANY different MACH than I did, and use ANY different Matte painting. The ones I used didn't make it work correctly, but I did it again with another mach, and it was fine. For instance, you can use the containment gate from Containment, the antenna from Ascension, or any of the machs on Zanzibar. It is best to use machs that are already in MP.

To make them more visible in game, go to the MACH tag and change the Bounding radius to anything from 100 or greater.

If you don't post that incredible mod, then you are doing a disservice to Remnantmods! haha! That looks like so much fun!

Well if you want to perfect a few things in the map, then I certainly support that. However, a few bugs are okay :)

  1. Find*/Inject a model which is a single planar quad (*specifically there are matte-painting models & entire tags in the single player maps)
  2. Link the 'painting' bitmap to the shader of the model
  3. Spawn the model through a scenery* tag (*scenery because you won't need collision and why not)
You might want to increase the level of detail distances in the hlmt tag as well so that the item does not get clipped, and the view_frustum radius in the scenario tag to the same effect.
