Map Downloader v.1.0

Post by Halo0001 »

Introduction
This is my first application in C#. I have made this to A. learn C# and B.To provide a simpler
solution in downloading maps from the Remnant Mods backup map server. This allows
people not to have to go online find the link to ftp site, find the map, etc. All you have
to do is launch this application and it will do the rest for you. The download is tracked
by a progress bar and after the application is finished downloading a message box will
appear confirming the download is completed.

Disclaimer
I have added a disclaimer in the readme and in the about section of the program its self.
But for those of you who don't read those things Ill quote JacksonCougar:
Note: If you did not legally purchase the maps from xbox live and/or own a copy of the original disk, DO NOT download these files. I am not here to give you free commercial content, I am doing this so you have an easy way of getting maps that you might have corrupted or lost.
Note: The application only allows single file downloading. I did this because I didn't want people abusing the
backup maps server.

Nice work! Isn't there something else like this? Oh well it looks great and I like the easy GUI!

I like, But you could compress it a lot more. also make it a fixed box so it can't be maximized. Too much empty space. Other then the UI, I will download.

I agree with click, make it use less space, but I do like it's simplicity.

I was trying to make a web-based uploader for Remnant but I could never get the thing to look like nor do what I wanted.

And here is how I would structure the window:

Thanks for the GUI idea Gjsdeath, and I could probably make an uploader. I'll give it a shot at least.

No problem, just glad someone still makes applications around here, besides Grim and Xzelda(is that how you spell it?).

And I posted a topic on my uploader concept if you wanted to see it, sadly it is just an image though...

You mean xzodia ?
..............

neat idea for an app btw, would be neat if there could be folders setup in the ftp server to download mods through an app like this, like when someone makes a mod, they put it in a folder and an app will detect it, and add it to a list

Yeah, that app has already been created.
Guess what happened to it.
It was fucked over when SG took over HM and lost like 2 weeks worth the posts.

Not that I can recall. It was an AWESOME application, though. It had one of the best GUI's I believe I have ever seen. It looked amazing and worked flawlessly. It was almost like the serenity repository. Damn SG.

XD nice, I'd ask around to see if anyone might have it..
curiosity: what server did it look to? HM Remnant? was it an FTP server, changeable so you could make your own ftp server for maps and have people download via it etc.
and btw I recognize your name, but I was never much of a member on HM, you were on 7S back in the day weren't you?

Yeah, I've been there for quite a while. Hahaha.

Also, it read from someone's personal server. It was just a little something that they put together.
When I saw this thread, I had to throw something with a little more complex GUI together. ;p

:p I had to. :)
